The event, held under the able leadership of N. Ganesh, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Central Forest Division, saw the planting of 5,000 seedlings, marking a significant contribution to the state’s afforestation efforts.

The plantation drive was attended by the Deputy Commandant of CRPF 69th and 86th Battalions, along with 250 CRPF personnel, who actively participated in the event. Adding to the event’s enthusiasm, 250 school students also took part, showcasing the importance of involving the younger generation in environmental conservation.

The event was a unique confluence of the “Maa Ke Naam Ek Ped” and “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaigns, culminating in the powerful theme “Bharat Maa Ke Naam Pe Ek Ped,” which translates to “Plant in the Name of Motherland.” This initiative aimed to instill a sense of national pride and responsibility towards environmental stewardship among the participants.

N. Ganesh, DFO Central Forest Division, highlighted the importance of such collaborative efforts in combating climate change and ensuring a greener future for Manipur. He expressed his appreciation for the active participation of the CRPF and school students, emphasizing that such initiatives are crucial in raising awareness about the need for environmental conservation.

The involvement of 250 school students in the event was particularly noteworthy, as it not only educated them about the importance of planting trees but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards the environment at a young age. The plantation drive at Lamlai serves as a significant step towards enhancing Manipur’s green cover and underscores the collective efforts needed to protect and preserve the environment for future generations, stated a press note from the DFO, Central Forest Division.
