Gangtok: There are 102 candidates in the field for contesting Elections to Urban Local Bodies in East Sikkim.
Twenty-six have withdrawn their candidature.’64 Candidates are in the fray for 15 wards in Gangtok. From Singtam East for 5 wards 21 candidates are in the fray.
While for 4 wards of Rangpo Nagar Panchayat 17 candidates are in the field.5 candidates have returned uncontested from different wards, says Municipal Returning Officer East, Ragul k.
The candidates have been allotted symbols also. The partyless election is due to be held on 31st March 21.
In the South, the total withdrawals are 6. Now for Namchi Municipal Council, there are 19 candidates, for Naya Bazar-Jorethang there are 12 candidates in the field, while 4 candidates have returned uncontested from 4wards, according to M Bharani Kumar Municipal Returning officer South.
In West Sikkim 13 are in the field and in North 10 for 7 Mangan Nagar Panchayat, one has returned uncontested.
