Mumbai: Bombay high court on Thursday directed the Mumbai police to file a reply to a petition field by actor and fitness entrepreneur Sahil Khan, wherein he seeks the quashing of an FIR lodged against him in connection with the Mahadev betting app case.
Division bench comprising Justices Ajay Gadkari and Shyam Chandak while directing the police to file reply adjourned the further hearing till February 22, 2024.
The FIR against Sahil Khan is linked to the Mahadev betting app case, where he was named as one of the accused. The case was registered on November 7 at Mumbai’s Matunga Police, involving 32 others, including Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Upal.
Advocate Rajiv Chavan, representing Khan, filed the plea, asserting that Khan learnt about the FIR through social media. The plea contends that even if the allegations in the FIR are accepted at face value, they do not prima facie constitute any offense or establish a case against Khan.
“It does not disclose any single offense as allegedly committed by him. Further, not a single allegation is leveled against Khan in the entire FIR. In the general allegations, the name of Khan is reflecting, but in the entire FIR, not a single role has been attributed to him at all,” the plea stated.
