Gangtok: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Saturday submitted a formal proposal for collaborating with Sikkim to promote tourism and related activities.
BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro called on Sikkim Chief Minister P S Tamang at his official residence and submitted the proposal to set up collaborative mechanisms for the promotionĀ of tourism and allied activities between the Himalayan state and the council.
The BTC offered land for the construction of Sikkim House and Sikkim Tourism InformationĀ Centre in the Kokhrajhar district.It also proposed to set up a Bodoland Guest House and BTR Tourism Centre in Sikkim.
The Chief Minister said the proposed collaboration will strengthen ties in the countryās Northeast region. Tamang assured Boro that he would discuss the proposal with the departments concerned soon.
The BTC is an autonomous council for the Bodoland Territorial Region established under the Sixth Schedule of the constitution in Assam.
