Kangpokpi: Block Health Mela, an initiative under the State Government’s 1st 100 days Action plan and as a part of the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was held at the Hoikhonei multi-purpose hall, Thangkanphai village, Saikul Block in Kanpokpi district Monday. The mela was organised by the Block Health Society Sadar Hills East, Saikul.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Kimneo Haokip Hangshing, MLA of the Saikul Assembly Constituency said that it is time to question ourselves that after 75 years of Independence are we able to avail and provide all the basic facilities to the people residing in every nook and corner of the State. She opined that it is time that we introspect ourselves of our responsibilities to realise where the problem and challenges actually lie.
Stating that Saikul CHC is one of the best CHCs which has been commended and recognised by the State Government in recent years, she pointed out that there is still room for improvement in terms of health sector in the constituency and there is need for awareness for the authorities concerned in order to fulfill the medical requirements.
Promising that she will be always available in case of any grievances with regards to healthcare concerning her constituency or requiring her intervention, she sought cooperation from the people of the constituency to make Saikul one of the best in the healthcare sector.
Functional President Kengoo Zuringla, Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi said that the government has organised such a mela/program focusing on the “health for all”. Stating that the mela will be held from April 18-22 in various parts of the district, she appealed to the people of the Kangpokpi district to avail all the facilities provided in the mela which mainly focuses on the health sector.
Showing gratitude to the village chief and villagers for their cooperation, she said today in the mela 22 counters were opened providing various free of cost facilities like COVID vaccination, health check up including the children, consultation with the specialists doctors, distribution of free medicines for downtrodden people, ICDS officials also gave awareness on balance diet and benefits from various vegetables and eatable items, among others.
Dr. Lamkhoneng Haokip, Chief Medical Officer; Bungba Maibam Khuman, SDO Saikul & Chairman Block Health Society, Saikul, Health officials, District Level Officers, CSOs, among others attended the mela.
Similar Block Health Mela is being organised by the District Health Society Champhai Block, Kangpokpi District at Keithelmanbi Community Hall (KMC) tomorrow.
