Patna: BJP Rajyasabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday said Bihar will get an additional interest-free loan of Rs 8460 crore in the current financial year from the centre to be repaid in 50 years.
Modi said here that the amount given under the loan would be spent on the construction of roads, bridges, culverts, electricity infrastructure and others.
He said to get the interest-free loan the state government will have to send a proposal to the centre. Under such a scheme Bihar got Rs 843 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 1246.5 0 crores in 2021-22.
The MP said the centre in its budget for 2022-23 had announced to provide rupees 1 lakh crore interest-free loan to the states to be repaid over a period of 50 years. He said that of this amount Rs 80000 crore would be distributed among the states on the formula of the 15th finance commission under which Bihar would get Rs 8640 crore.
Modi said Rs 20 thousand crores would be given to the states under the PM Gati Shakti scheme, PM rural roads scheme, digitalisation promotion, Optical Fibre, urban reforms and disinvestments. He said that Bihar would also get the additional amount under the schemes.
