Haldia: The Central Bureau of Investigation or CBI, probing the post-poll murders and rapes in West Bengal following a Calcutta high court directive, on Thursday questioned Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s chief election agent for Nandigram, Sheikh Sufian, for nearly four hours at a guest house in East Medinipur.
The quiz happened after Sheikh Sufian appeared at the CBI camp office here following a summon into the investigation of the kkilling of BJP worker Debobdata Maity, a resident of Chila village of Nandigram.
Maity, who was lethally beaten on May 3, a day after the election results were out, was admitted at the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, where he succumbed on May 13.
” I faced questioning for four hours and if summoned again I would come and face the questioning,” Sufian told reporters. He said he was a loyal worker of Mamata Banerjee.
Sufian was the chief election agent for Mamata Banerjee at Nandigram assembly election where the TMC supremo lost to BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari in March-April voting.
