Bishnupur: A one-day awareness programme on the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (CMESS) under the One Family One Livelihood initiative was organised today at INA Auditorium Hall, Moirang by the Planning Department in coordination with the District Administration Bishnupur.
Aimed at educating Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in and around Moirang area, the awareness programme highlighted key features of CMESS, including 100% coverage under CGTMSE and MCGS, collateral-free loans, and no requirement of third-party guarantors, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam, expressed gratitude to the Planning Department and banking sector for organising such awareness programme specially for the IDPs, providing them with opportunities to grow through entrepreneurship. She stated that entrepreneurship does not require a huge amount of capital; rather, with a clear idea and determination, individuals can become successful entrepreneurs.
The Deputy Commissioner advised participants to understand market demand, analyse gaps, and develop businesses accordingly to ensure sustainability and success. She further stated that the Government provides subsidies and loans under various schemes at different stages of business development and appealed to all IDPs to take advantage of these schemes.
Pooja Elangbam also highlighted that under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, special focus is being given to women between 18 and 60 years of age. She informed that Self Help Groups (SHGs) with a minimum of 10 members, engaged in activities and maintaining a functional bank account, can avail special packages after fulfilling the required criteria. She encouraged the participants to produce genuine and quality products and make full use of the scheme.
The DC further stated that the Government is continuously implementing various schemes to financially empower women and also the IDPs, which will ultimately contribute to stronger families and a better society. According to the Planning Department, around 111 IDPs have already received one-time assistance under CMESS, and other IDPs with new business ideas can also avail the benefits of the scheme, she added.
Encouraging the participants, Smt. Pooja Elangbam urged them to take maximum advantage of the programme and learn the complete process from planning to execution, including documentation and implementation. She also appreciated the large turnout of participants at the awareness programme.
As part of the programme, the participants also interacted with the presidium members and cleared their doubts on different topics related to the schemes.
The programme was also attended by Dr. R.K. Radhesana Devi, Director (Planning); SDO Moirang Chirom Somerendro; Dr. Uttam Luwang, LDM, SBI (Imphal West & Thoubal); and Roshnikumar Yambem, Director, Globizs Web Solutions Pvt. Ltd. As presidium members.
Stalls from DIC and SDC office were set up at the spot to assist the IDPs in documentation process.
