Imphal: Assam Rifles achieved a major breakthrough when it apprehended three cadres of different organisations in the Kamjong district on February 2, 2024.
Acting on specific intelligence about an attempt of infiltration along the India Myanmar Border, Assam Rifles troops laid an ambush in the general area Aloyo in Kamjong District on February 2, 2024.
The troops observed the movement of five individuals and challenged them. On being challenged the individuals attempted to run back to Myanmar and in the pursuit, Assam Rifles troops apprehended three individuals while two managed to escape. The trio was allegedly actively participating in a range of anti-national activities from foreign territory.
In a related incident on the same day, upon receiving credible intelligence from sources of likely infiltration along the India-Myanmar border in Kamjong district, Assam Rifles laid an ambush in the general area of Z Choro on February 2, 2024. The vigilant troops on detecting suspicious movement challenged them.
In the ensuing operation, two of the personnel managed to escape while one was forced to surrender. Subsequent interrogation revealed that this individual had been actively affiliated with KYKL since 2009, participating in cross-border and anti-national activities.
The apprehended cadres have been handed over to the Police, according to the PRO, IGAR(S).
