Assam Rifles holds medical camp, pulse polio drive for children in Churachandpur

Imphal: Reaffirming its dedication to public health and community welfare, multiple health initiatives were put into action across Manipur by the security forces.

A medical camp at Village Mata, Churachandpur district, under Operation Sadbhavana Project, was organised for the Financial Year 2023-24 on March 3, 2024. The camp aimed to provide essential medical check-ups and distribute medicines to locals, addressing prevalent diseases and promoting well-being.

A total of 493 villagers benefited from medical examinations, medication distribution, and educational interactions on hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention.

In addition, security forces of Pallel, Kakching District, conducted a Pulse Polio drive on March 3, 2024, targeting 31 children. This initiative underscores their commitment to eradicating polio and safeguarding children’s health in the region, contributing to healthy future citizens and robust community welfare.

A polio vaccination drive at Sehlon, Chandel District: In collaboration with the Directorate of Family Welfare Services, a polio Vaccination Drive was organised at Sehlon, Chandel District, as part of the nationwide Pulse Polio Immunization program. Operating in challenging terrains, Assam Rifles established five vaccination centers facilitating the vaccination of approximately 200 children across eleven villages, aligning with its mission of service beyond borders. Under the mission name “Polio Vaccination Drive” the Force assisted medical teams comprising of Volunteer ASHA workers in this exercise across the Sehlon area. 

Joupi village at Indo- the Myanmar border under the Chandel district faces an acute shortage of basic health facilities. On World Polio Day, Assam Rifles in collaboration with civil health authorities administered pulse polio drops.  Through their coordinated efforts, 89 children received the vital polio drops, helping to protect them from this debilitating disease, according to a press note from the PRO, IGAR(S).
