Moreh: Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to the local population by providing comprehensive support for the successful conduct of the 59th Fire-Walking Festival in Moreh, Tengnoupal District. Organised by the Tamil Sangam, the significant event commenced on 23 March 2026 and culminated on 01 April 2026 at the Shree Angala Parmeshwari Shree Muneeshwarar Temple. This time-honoured tradition, symbolising faith, courage and resilience, drew widespread participation from Tamil, Meetei, Nepali and Bihari communities, as well as devotees from neighbouring Myanmar, transforming the temple into a vibrant hub of cultural and social harmony.
Upon the request of the Tamil Sangam, a contingent of officials and personnel ensured a safe and peaceful environment through robust security arrangements and essential logistical support for all rituals. A key highlight of the assistance was the organisation of a langar which served approximately 450 to 500 devotees daily throughout the festival period. These efforts, complemented by community feasts organised by residents across various localities, reflected a collective resolve to restore peace and preserve regional traditions.
The event was graced by the Deputy Inspector General of Assam Rifles, whose involvement was acknowledged by local leaders as vital to the stability of Moreh Town. Residents expressed sincere gratitude for the sustained outreach and the strong bond between the security forces and the people. The successful conclusion of the festival stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of unity and cooperation in the region.
