Assam Rifles flags off study tour of displaced students in Manipur

Imphal: The 32 Assam Rifles, under the aegis of IGAR (East), initiated a study tour for internally displaced students on Wednesday.

A group of 20 students and two teachers from Bal Vidya Mandir Palace Compound, Imphal East, was flagged off by Major General Suresh Kumar Bhamu, Sena Medal, IGAR (East), in the presence of Y Khogen Singh, President of Vidya Bharati Shiksha Vikash Samiti, Manipur, along with other school and Assam Rifles officials.

The study tour, organized under the motto “Healing Touch of Assam Rifles Through Educational Workshop Cum Career Guidance,” will take the participants to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Kolkata for five days. During this period, the students will explore various opportunities and technologies available at the institution.

An official from the Assam Rifles mentioned that the team might also have the opportunity to meet the Governor of West Bengal.

While flagging off the students and teachers, Major General Bhamu emphasized his commitment as a soldier to ensure that the new generations are well-groomed, as they will eventually lead the nation. He praised the 32 Assam Rifles for selecting the students and teachers, stating that these students are the messengers of Manipur, representing more than just their school and themselves.

The General also encouraged the students to learn and understand the offerings of IISER and to apply this knowledge for the welfare of the nation.

The students also present cultural items during the programme.
