Imphal: Sajik Tampak Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated First Millet Food Festival on April 16, 2023, with farmers of the Kana Area in Chandel district, Manipur.
To raise awareness about the importance of millet and agriculture, the battalion organised an agriculture and food festival for the locals of the Kana area. As the global agricultural food supply challenges the growing global population, resilient cereals like millet provide an affordable and nutritious option. Such festivals will also emphasise the local agricultural products available in our community.
During the festival, the branding of millet and recipes were displayed and served to the locals. The event concluded with the distribution of millet seeds and other agricultural products to the farmers. The event was witnessed by 180 villagers from the Kana area.
The efforts of the Sajik Tampak Battalion were appreciated by the villagers of Kana Area, who conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles for conducting such a festival for them, according to a press note from the PROcell, IGAR(S).
