Arunachal: Single-day recoveries exceed fresh Covid cases

Itanagar: The single day Covid19 recoveries outnumbered fresh cases in Arunachal Pradesh as the Northeastern state reported 515 recoveries as against 380 new infections, a senior health official on Saturday said.

Following detection of the new cases, Arunachal’s overall case tally rose to 61,627 and with 515 recoveries, the total number of recovered cases stands at 58,145. With this, the state’s active caseload has dropped down to 3,197, he said.

On infection front, Itanagar Capital Complex continued to stay on top with 147 new cases, followed by Namsai with 26, Lower Subansiri (24), Lohit (20), Lower Dibang Valley (19), East Kameng (15), East Siang (13), and Papum Pare, Leparada, Tawang and West Kameng (12 each).

Among other districts, Upper Siang and Upper Subansiri registered eight cases each, while seven cases each came from Changlang, Longding, Lower Siang and West Siang.

Of the total cases, 198 were found to be asymptomatic and 182 symptomatic, the official said, adding that the day’s positivity rate was 24.32 percent, which stood at 22.06 percent the previous day.

On the inoculation front, the state administered 2,410 Covid19 vaccine jabs to its eligible citizens in the past 24 hours, taking its cumulative vaccination coverage to over 15.73 lakh, the official informed.
