Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday reported 104 new cases of Covid-19 – the highest single-day spike in infection in the third wave of the pandemic – pushing its active caseload to 448 and the overall case tally to 65,513, a senior health official said.
The Northeastern state also recorded 60 recoveries during the past 24 hours that taking the total number of recovered cases to 64,769. The State’s death toll remained unchanged at 296, he said.
Of the fresh infections, Namsai accounted for the highest at 22, followed by Changlang-18, Itanagar Capital Complex and Leparada-8 each, Dibang Valley-7 and Lower Dibang Valley and East Siang-6 each.
Eighty of the total cases turned out to be asymptomatic and 24 mild symptomatic, the official said. The new cases were found out of 373 samples tested during the period that increasing the cumulative figure to 12,81,297.
The state’s active cases accounted for 0.68 percent of the total caseload, while the Covid-19 recovery rate stood at 98.86 percent.
On the inoculation front, Arunachal Pradesh has administered more than 17.95 lakh vaccine doses to its eligible citizens to date, he said.
