Itanagar: In a major move to strengthen the Cooperative movement and expand its reach to the grassroots level, the Arunachal Pradesh State Cooperative Development Committee approved a district-wise plan of setting up more than 490 Cooperative societies, including 150 Large Sized Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPS), 157 Dairy Cooperative Societies and 184 Fisheries Cooperative Societies across the State over the period of next five years.
The State Cooperative Development Committee (SCDC), which had its first meeting at the State Civil Secretariat here on Thursday with Chief Secretary Dharmendra on the Chair, also approved the setting up of a 500 metric ton grain storage plan by Namsai LAMPS on a pilot basis, official sources said.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary also reviewed the steps taken by the Department of Cooperation, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh in implementing various schemes/ initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation, Govt of India in the State.
The CS suggested all state plan schemes of line departments to be mapped by the Department of Cooperation for convergence, sources added.
