Arunachal inks two MoUs with Edu Ministry for implementation of PM-USHA, PM e-Vidya initiatives

Itanagar: The Department of Education, Government of Arunachal Pradesh has inked two memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with the Ministry of Education, Government of India for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) for higher education and Pradhan Mantri e-Vidya (PM e-Vidya) for school education in the state, an official release said on Thursday.

The MoUs were signed on the occasion of the just concluded Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The two-day event that coincided with the 3rd anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020 was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Commissioner Education, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, Amjad Tak signed the MoUs in the presence of Union Ministers of State for Education, Subhas Sarkar, Annapurna Devi, and Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.

The first MoU for the implementation of the newly launched program PM-USHA was signed on behalf of the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, and the second one is for the launch of PM e-Vidya signed on behalf of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Arunachal Pradesh.

PM-USHA will be implemented to address the key gaps in the higher education sector of the state to improve equity, access, and inclusion; provide quality teaching-learning process; improve accreditation of higher educational institutions; creation of ICT-based digital infrastructure; and enhance employability through a multi-disciplinary approach.

PM e-Vidya will be implemented across the State through DTH TV channels and shall be immensely beneficial to the school students for learning through e-Vidya. PM e-Vidya is a comprehensive initiative which unifies all efforts related to digital, online and on-air education to enable multi-mode access to education.

Both programmes will pave the way for more inclusive development and excellence in the field of education in Arunachal Pradesh.

During the MoU signing ceremony, State’s Higher & Technical Education Director Alik Jongkey, Deputy Director cum Deputy State Project Director (RUSA) Minto Ete, and SLO (NSS) Dr AK Mishra were also present.

A group of 5 students from Arunachal Pradesh also attended the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam under the banner of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) and Yuva Sangam programme. The Department of Education, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh has also exhibited its achievements in the implementation of NEP 2020 and EBSB programme in the State.

Further, it was informed that under the initiative of Rajiv Gandhi University, the lone central varsity in Arunachal Pradesh, the academic curriculum as per NEP 2020 will be implemented in all the higher educational institutions within its ambit from the forthcoming academic session.
