Arunachal: Five drug peddlers held

Three separate cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against them.

Itanagar: The anti-drug squad (ADS) of the Tirap police in Arunachal Pradesh has arrested five drug peddlers and recovered more than 600 grams of suspected narcotics substances from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off regarding movement of narcotics substances, the police apprehended them along with suspected narcotics substances from various locations under Tirap district on Tuesday, police said on Wednesday.

Three separate cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against them.

Meanwhile, Tirap SP Kardak Riba while congratulating the ADS warned the peddler’s to desist from drug peddling otherwise strict action will be taken against them.

He also appealed to the civil society to support the Tirap police and district administration to eradicate the menace of drug from the society/district.

The SP also appealed to everyone to install the ‘drug free Arunachal’ app from Google play store and make adequate use of it by informing the police of any drug abuse in the district.

The identity of the informant will be kept secret, the police officer said.
