Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh continued to witness spike in Covid-19 cases with detection of 249 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s caseload to 21,622, while the death toll soared to 78 with one more demise.

On the other hand, 199 patients were discharged , taking the total recoveries to 19,293. The recovery rate is over 89 percent. Active cases stood at 2,251.

As per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services, out of the fresh cases of infections, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 76, followed by Lohit 23 and Changlang 19.

Barring 72, all the patients are asymptomatic.

According to the bulletin, a 53-year-old man with from village Tajang, Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, expired on Saturday at DCHC-Ziro. He was suffering from acute gastroenteritis and tested positive through rapid antigen test. He died due to acute respiratory distress syndrome.
