Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday urged the Centre to expedite all the ongoing railway projects in the state.
Khandu, who called on Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Saturday, discussed issues pertaining to the rail network in Arunachal Pradesh and said any matter relating to the state that comes in the way of development of the rail project would be resolved.
Khandu categorically urged to expedite the Murkongselek to Pasighat railway project for which the state will extend all support, a Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) release said here.
During the meeting, the Union minister gifted a beautiful model of Vande Bharat train. Khandu while appreciating the initiative said that this new train is a great reform undertaken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Indian Railways.
The Union minister promised to introduce this new model train in the North-East (NE) too.
While discussing information technology (IT) and Communication matters with Vaishnaw, who also holds the portfolio of Communication, Electronics and IT, Khandu requested to support Arunachal Pradesh in improving digital and telecommunication connectivity.
The CM informed that the State government has adopted the e-office module and almost the entire Civil Secretariat of the state is now paperless.
He thanked the Centre for sanctioning 1683 4G mobile towers for unconnected villages of Arunachal Pradesh and urged for installation of the same at the earliest.
Emphasising on development of border areas, Khandu requested for special 4G towers in the border villages. It may be mentioned here that the CM has been strongly pitching on development of border areas to stop migration of border populace due to lack of basic infrastructures.
The Union Minister gave a patient hearing and assured all possible support to Arunachal Pradesh, the release said.
