Arunachal can have highest per capita income: Rijiju

Talking about the Aspirational district of Namsai, Rijiju said, “From an aspirational district, Namsai district is now developing into a model district in the state."

Itanagar: Union Minister of Law & Justice Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said Arunachal Pradesh can become the highest per capita income-generating state as the central devolution per capita to the frontier state is highest in the Northeast.

On a visit to his home state, Rijiju said the need of the hour was to enhance revenue generation at the local level.

Chairing a review meeting on Aspirational District Programme in respect of Namsai district at the District Secretariat, Namsai, the Minister said Arunachal is progressing in a very systemic way in every sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.

He appealed to the youths to channelise their energy positively and contribute to the development of the State. Talking about the Aspirational district of Namsai, Rijiju said, “From an aspirational district, Namsai district is now developing into a model district in the state.”

“Namsai had made a transformational change in development over the last four years which is the result of good leadership of the Deputy Chief Minister, dedicated team of officers of the district administration and judicious utilization of funds, he said while congratulating the Namsai district administration for the “remarkable improvement in their ranking from 93rd to 14th in overall ranking among the 112 Aspirational districts in the country,” he said.

Rijiju further said the development model in Namsai can be replicated in other districts for all-round development of the State. Namsai being centrally located in eastern Arunachal will become an educational, tourism and pilgrimage hub, the Union Minister remarked while assuring all possible help from his end in seeking central funding for Central Sponsored Schemes and also for a multipurpose outdoor stadium in Namsai.
