Arunachal Cabinet approves credit-linked schemes under agri-horti to boost economy

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved two credit-linked schemes under the agriculture and horticulture sector to boost the state’s economy, amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The decision was taken at the state Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief
Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday.

“Taking ahead the State government’s agenda of boosting the economy through agriculture and horticulture in the backdrop of huge potential in the State, the Cabinet approved the ‘Credit linked Schemes under Agriculture and Horticulture sector during 2021-22’,” said Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix while addressing a press conference here on Friday.

Accordingly, the Cabinet gave its nod for implementation of ‘Atma Nirbhar Krishi Yojana’ for Agriculture and ‘Atma Nirbhar Bagwani Yojana’ for Horticulture with the allocation of Rs 60 crore each (towards meeting Govt subsidy), said Felix.

Felix , who is also the Government’s spokesperson, informed that the credit-linked scheme can be availed by any individual farmers as well as self help groups (SHGs) and farmer producers organizations (FPOs), and added that the ratio of Government subsidy, bank loan and farmers contribution will be 45:45:10.

“If any individual farmer avails the scheme within Rs 1.6 lakh, no collateral or bank guarantee will be required, while for the SHG availing the scheme within or up to Rs 10 lakh, no collateral or bank guarantee will be required,” he said.

This scheme will be distributed across the State and the applicants need to apply to the DC concerned in their respective districts, the spokesperson said.

“We expect that through this scheme, about 300 crore investment will be done in the sector, out of which Government subsidy component will be of Rs 120 crore,” he said.

The Cabinet also approved setting up of a 100-bedded ‘Cancer Care Home’ for cancer patients from the state in Mumbai, he said, adding, this will provide relief to families and patients suffering from cancer and seeking treatment there.
