Army soldier dies after vehicle falls in gorge in Ladakh, cremated

The mortal remains of Dilip Ozarkar were flown down to Pune via an Air India flight on Monday night. Wreaths were laid by senior Army Officers on arrival at the Pune airport.

Pune: Havaldar Dilip Balasaheb Ozarkar, an Indian Army soldier who lost his life in an unfortunate incident while towing Artillery guns at an area 13 kilometre short of Khalsi, Leh on September 3, was cremated with military honours here at Bhawani Peth on Tuesday.

The mortal remains of Dilip Ozarkar were flown down to Pune via an Air India flight on Monday night. Wreaths were laid by senior Army Officers on arrival at the Pune airport.

The mortal remains were thereafter taken to his home town, Bhawani Peth, Pune, where the last rites were performed amidst a solemn guard of honour paying tribute to the brave soldier.

Havaldar Ozarkar had joined the Army in 2004 and was serving with 94 Medium Regiment of the Regiment of Artillery.

He is survived by his parents, wife, son and daughter.
