Army holds multiple sporting events in Manipur

The Village Chief Wungnaoyo Kasar and Village Secretary Vanreingam Kashung, expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army for the valuable support towards successful conduct of the tournament.

Kohima: The Indian Army  conducted multiple sporting events at different locations in Manipur. 

The Army joined hands with the village authority of Chadong, Ukhrul district in organizing football and volleyball tournaments from 02 April to 10 April 2024. The tournament witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 12 Football and 10 Volleyball teams. Army also held a friendly football match with the youth of Kabowakching village in Bishnupur district, addressing the request of the youth club.

The tournament at Chadong is organized every six years on the belief that the village was submerged during the construction of Maphou Dam and  later resurfaces after this period. Throughout the duration of the event, locals displayed exceptional sportsmanship and remarkable skills, captivating the audience.
