Imphal: A Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) party of Assam Rifles from Mission Veng near Maipi village, Tengnoupal District intercepted a smuggling operation on January 13, 2024.

While on patrol, the MVCP party encountered a Santro Car blocking the road, seemingly due to a mechanical issue. The MVCP Party, in a bid to assist, halted the vehicle, prompting the suspicious individuals to flee into the adjacent woods.

Despite a hot pursuit, the suspects eluded capture, abandoning the Santro Car. An extensive search by the Area Domination Patrol (ADP) party uncovered 28 soap cases of Brown Sugar, valued at approximately Rs 2.4 Crore in the international market.

The MVCP party concluded the operation at 1500 hours, returning to Mission Veng with the seized items. The recovered items, alongside the car, are now under police custody for further investigation, said a press note from the PRO, IGAR(S).
