Imphal: In a meaningful outreach initiative aimed at fostering trust and cooperation, the Assam Rifles organised “A Day with the Company Commander” at Kwatha Village in Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.

The programme brought together Assam Rifles personnel and local villagers in a vibrant display of unity, friendship and mutual respect. The day’s activities commenced with an energetic volleyball match between troops and villagers, setting an atmosphere of camaraderie and healthy competition.

Children enthusiastically participated in a tug-of-war event, learning the values of teamwork and discipline, while women and children joined musical chair games that filled the surroundings with laughter and inclusiveness. Approximately 110 villagers took part in the event, reflecting the strong bond and goodwill shared between the community and the force.

A prize distribution ceremony followed, recognising the enthusiastic participation of villagers and reinforcing the spirit of togetherness.

The highlight of the programme was an interactive session between Assam Rifles personnel and villagers, during which issues of collective responsibility, cooperation and border-related challenges were discussed. The dialogue underscored the importance of trust and unity between security forces and local communities in maintaining peace and stability in sensitive border areas.

The initiative was warmly received by the villagers and further strengthened the longstanding relationship between Assam Rifles and the local population. Such people-centric engagements continue to play a vital role in promoting peace, harmony and sustainable cooperation in remote and border regions, contributing to a secure and stable environment.
