AR conducts wreath-laying ceremony for Bravehearts

Imphal: Under the aegis of HQ IGAR(S), Assam Rifles organized a wreath-laying ceremony to honour Capt Allahnoor Kathat, KC(P), who displayed unwavering courage and dedication to duty during a counter-insurgency operation in Sateek, Aizawl district, Mizoram, on July 3, 1967.

On that day, Capt Allahnoor Kathat led an operation in the Sialsuk area following intelligence about hiding MNF cadres. In the ensuing encounter, one MNF cadre was killed, another was wounded, and arms and ammunition were recovered. 

Capt Kathat, showing remarkable bravery, engaged the insurgents despite the risks to his own life. He was wounded in the encounter and ultimately made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. For his heroism and sacrifice, Capt Allahnoor Kathat was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra.

The ceremony began with the Commandant of the unit laying a wreath and recounting Capt Kathat’s heroic story to inspire pride and honor among the ranks.

 A total of five Officers, 15 Junior Commissioned Officers, and 105 Other Ranks paid tribute by laying wreaths and honoring the martyr with a Guard of Honour, according to a press note from the PRO IGAR(S).
