Imphal: Troops of the Assam Rifles Monday arrested an overground worker of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) insurgent group and also a drug peddler at Sangaikot, Churachandpur district.
Based on specific inputs, the troops of Assam Rifles along with Sangaikot Police launched a mobile vehicle check post and during detailed checking of passengers & vehicles, one individual was found with a .22mm pistol, along with four live rounds, and one lady was found with approx 2.5 kg Opium worth Rs 3 lakh. Both the accused were apprehended, said a statement by the IGAR (S).
The apprehended accused and recovered items were handed over to Churachandpur Police Station for further investigation.
