Patna: While symbolically distributing appointment letters among ten teachers of the total 1,20,336 newly appointed teachers in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed the education minister and additional chief secretary of the department to complete the appointment process to fill up the rest of 1lakh 20 thousand vacant posts of the teachers within next 2 months.
Addressing the function organised for the distribution of the appointment letters to the newly appointed teachers on Thursday for higher secondary, and primary schools the chief minister directed the Education Minister and additional chief secretary of the Education Department KK Pathak here on Thursday to accelerate the appointment process for attaining the target.
Kumar said that those who got the appointment letters during the day included 70,545 primary teachers, 26,089 teachers for secondary schools and 23,702 for higher secondary schools. All these teachers were appointed by the Bihar Public Service Commission.
The Chief Minister said that it is the first time in the country that such a huge number of appointment letters were distributed but media being captured by the BJP-led central government would not highlight this achievement even if they wished, said Kumar adding that massive coverage was done by the media when only 50000 appointment letters were distributed by the center in the recent past. Kumar said that media need to be free from any clutches for free reporting.
Referring to the appointment of teachers Kumar said the BPSC had conducted the examination for an appointment of one lakh 70000 in which over 8 lakh youth appeared.
He said the youth across the nation got the opportunity to take the examination. Bihar is an integral part of the country the youth of other states can also work here as the people of this state were working outside Bihar, Kumar said adding that no injustice has been done to the youth of Bihar by allowing the people of other states too. Of the newly appointed teachers 88% belong to Bihar and only 12% belong to other states including Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Delhi, Assam and Jharkhand.
The environment of Bihar has improved and following a transformation in its image people from Oman and Qatar joined the appointment process, he said and expressed pleasure that several people quitting their jobs in the Army, Paramilitary forces, Railways, banks and other companies joined as teachers in Bihar.
Kumar said that of the 3 Lakh 68 thousand contractual teachers 68000 participated in the teacher’s appointment process conducted through BPSC and 28,815 were declared successful. Kumar announced to separately examine the status of government employees to the contractual teachers.
The Chief Minister said that his government was contemplating providing 10 lakh appointments by the next one and half years as promised by the Grand Alliance government.
