Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and congratulated him for the ‘historic’ passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill – ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ – in both Houses of Parliament in the just concluded special session of the Parliament.
In a social media post, Khandu wrote, “An honour indeed to meet PM Narendra Modi Ji today. I congratulated him for the historic passage of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in both the Houses of Parliament, making reservation for women in Lok Sabha and State Assemblies a reality.”
“With this landmark transformative reform, women will now have representation in the highest decision-making bodies in greater numbers. I am truly indebted to the PM for his bold move towards women’s empowerment,” the Chief Minister said.
Khandu said he also had an ‘enriching’ discussion with the Prime Minister on various development matters in Arunachal Pradesh.
“I am blessed to have his margdarshan and am humbled by his love and affection for the people of our state,” Khandu said in the post.
