Aoleang celebration concludes

Kohima: The Aoleang Monyu celebrations at Local Ground, Mon concluded on Wednesday.

Chief Guest for the event, Advisor Fire and Emergency Services and SIRD, Pohwang Konyak briefed the gathering about the history of the Konyaks and the close relations with Konyaks from Arunachal Pradesh and Burma.

He further stated that the Phoms and Konyaks should continue fostering unity and brotherhood.

President, Phom People’s Council and President, Wancho Council in their speech, extended Aoleang greetings on behalf of their respective communities.

Aoleang Greetings message was extended by President, Konyak Union, while the Significance of Aoleang was briefed by Atong Yanlem. The event witnessed a performance titled, “Wild Naga” a tribute song for the victims of the Oting incident by H. Pelao Konyak.

Cultural Troupes from Phom Union Mon Town, Chi Union, Tobu Area Union, Totok Union, Chen Nokten Union, and Leangha Union performed at the programme.

Later, the 9 MMUs received from The Hans Foundation were officially flagged off by the elected members of the District.

The programme was attended by Ministers P. Paiwang Konyak and Y.M. Yollow, Advisors and MLAs from Mon District, SP Mon, and other District HoDs and officers.
