Imphal: The first anniversary of the Governorship of Anusuiya Uikey, Governor of Manipur, was celebrated on Thursday at Raj Bhavan to mark the completion of one year of service to Manipur State as Governor.
In the function held at the Darbar Hall, the Governor along with her Secretary Bobby Waikhom released a Coffee Table Book, titled “Mere Abinav Prayas” meaning My Innovative Efforts.
The Governor distributed Certificates of Appreciation to seven CRPF personnel posted at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, and two drivers one each from Raj Bhavan and the Police Department in recognition of their commendable service.
Under Secretary to the Governor, M. Meena Devi highlighted the various developmental initiatives taken up by the Governor for the welfare of the people of the State and Raj Bhavan. Raj Bhavan has been extending support to the violence-affected people both in the hills and valley. Relief materials were distributed and monetary support was extended to pregnant women, patients with serious ailments, and children in the camps.
Later, speaking to the gathering, Governor Anusuiya Uikey thanked the officers, staff, and security personnel for their cooperation and support extended to her in discharging duties for the welfare of the people of the State. She said that since inception in office as Governor, many developmental initiatives have been taken up in the Raj Bhavan.
Expressing serious concern over the situation in the State, the Governor said, efforts are being put in by the Centre and the State continuously to contain violence and to restore peace in the State. The governor continued that with the support of the local populace, especially CSOs, women and student leaders, complete peace can be restored in the State.
She said she is in touch with the Central leaders and expressed hope that peace will prevail in the State soon. The governor appealed to the people to extend support to the Government in the process of restoring peace and harmony in the State. She said Raj Bhavan is always open to the common people.
The Governor said she is impressed by the cultural diversity and traditions of the State and assured that she will be responsible for carrying out duties as Governor of the State.
