Imphal: Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today graced the inauguration of the Khwairakpam Krishnagopal Memorial Building at Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur district. The building was also formally dedicated to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Ningthoukhong, on the occasion. Constructed by the Gojendro Foundation within the premises of the CHC, the facility has been handed over to the Government of Manipur to support the expansion and upgradation of the centre, with a particular focus on strengthening maternal healthcare through the establishment of a dedicated maternity ward.

Minister for Home and Youth Affairs & Sports, K. Govindas Singh, along with MLAs from Thanga, Nambol, Oinam, Moirang, Kumbi and Lilong Assembly Constituencies also attended the event.

Addressing the function, the Governor stated that the inauguration of the new facility marked more than the opening of a building, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening hope, dignity, and care for the people, particularly women and mothers who form the backbone of society. He highlighted the enduring strength, resilience, and moral leadership of the Ima community, noting their historic role in shaping society and championing justice and peace, and observed that the initiative reflected a broader vision of strengthening healthcare infrastructure through collective effort. He expressed hope that it would inspire more organisations and individuals to contribute towards nation-building, adding that the facility would stand as a lasting symbol of compassion, unity, and shared responsibility.

Governor commended the Gojendro Foundation for its continued service to marginalised sections and its generous contribution in constructing and dedicating the building to the Government for the upgradation of the Community Health Centre, calling it a noteworthy example of the synergy between public service and philanthropy. Emphasising the importance of the newly established maternity ward, he stated that improved access to quality maternal healthcare would contribute to safer motherhood and healthier generations.

Representatives of the CHC also submitted memoranda to the Governor, highlighting various concerns related to service delivery and equipment constraints.
