Chitrakoot (UP):Wife of Abbas Ansari, son of mafia turned politician Mukhtar Ansari, who is lodged in Ragauli district jail of Chitrakoot district in Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested by the police during a raid, official sources said here on Saturday.
Sources said that the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police raided the Chitrakoot Jail late on Friday night and found Nikhat with Abbas in a room in the jail. “Information was received by the administration that Abbas was using Nikhat’s mobile to threaten the witnesses and officers of the cases lodged against him,” they said.
Sources said that acting on the information the DM and the SP raided the jail and arrested Nikhat, who went to meet her husband Abbas without registering her name in the visitors’ register.
It may be noted that Abbas is lodged in the district jail for almost two months in connection with a money laundering case. “During the raid foreign currency and some objectionable items including two mobile phones were recovered from Nikhat during the search. After which Nikhat was taken into custody from outside the jail by women constables,” sources said.
Sources said that in-charge of Ragauli police outpost Shyam Dev Singh has lodged a case against seven persons, including Abbas’s wife Nikhat, Jail Superintendent Ashok Sagar, Deputy Jailor Sushil Kumar, constable Jagmohan under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at Karvi police station.
