Chandel: A meeting of the District Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (DL-MCMC) was held today at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer, Chandel, under the chairpersonship of Mamoni Doley, IAS, DC/DEO, Chandel, in connection with the forthcoming State Legislative Assembly Election, 2027.
The meeting discussed the roles and responsibilities of the committee in monitoring election-related media activities, certification of political advertisements and prevention of paid news. Emphasis was laid on monitoring political advertisements in electronic and print media, identifying suspected cases of paid news and ensuring compliance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and relevant provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The committee also discussed the mechanism for media monitoring, certification of advertisements and submission of daily reports to the concerned election authorities.
Following the DL-MCMC meeting, discussions were also held on the roles and responsibilities of the District Nodal Officers appointed for various election-related activities. The officers were briefed on their respective assignments, including manpower and training management, material and transport management, computerisation and IT, SVEEP, law and order, EVM management, Model Code of Conduct (MCC), expenditure monitoring, electoral rolls, media and social media, communication plan and other election-related responsibilities.
The DC/DEO stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned officers and timely execution of assigned responsibilities to ensure the smooth, transparent and efficient conduct of the forthcoming State Assembly Election, 2027 in Chandel district.
