Thoubal: As held in different places of the country, World Rabies Day was also observed on Monday at District Veterinary Hospital, Thoubal; Khongjom Veterinary Hospital & DVO, Thoubal and Leirongthel Veterinary Dispensary of the district. The event was organised by the office of the Joint Director, District Veterinary Office, Thoubal and Kakching as part of Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, 2026.
About 750 dogs and 60 cats have been vaccinated at various institutions, veterinary hospitals and dispensaries of both the districts during the campaign.
Every year on 28 September, the global community comes together to raise awareness about rabies elimination. This year’s World Rabies Day theme is: “Stronger Together”. It highlights that rabies elimination is only possible when we work together.
Officials from both District Veterinary Hospital, Thoubal and Kakching, healthcare workers and other concerned staff took part in the event.
