Kakching: Assam Rifles organised a friendly football match between Sahle Leikai Youth Development Association (SYDA) FC and Assam Rifles at the Football Ground, Pallel Garrison, Kakching District, on 19 September 2026. The sporting initiative aimed to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, camaraderie and meaningful interaction between the security forces and the local sporting community.
The closely contested event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both teams, with 30 players competing in a vibrant and positive atmosphere. A total of 135 attendees, comprising 45 serving Assam Rifles personnel, 30 family members, 60 civilians and SYDA officials, gathered to encourage the players and celebrate the spirit of healthy competition. Demonstrating exceptional coordination, determination and fair play, SYDA FC emerged victorious in an exciting match that captivated the audience.
By bringing together troops, military families, youth and local residents, the gathering fostered mutual interaction, goodwill and trust. The active involvement of civil supporters and local sports representatives further reinforced cooperation between the forces and the local population. Concluding on an uplifting note, the initiative successfully strengthened community ties while highlighting the transformative power of sports in building peace and mutual understanding.
