Imphal: The eighth session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly commenced today with obituary references by the sitting Members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Members cutting across party lines have expressed their deepest and profound sorrow to the demise of Longjam Ningthemjao Singh, former Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from 2-Heingang Assembly Constituency; K. Envey, former Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from 43- Phungyar (ST) Assembly Constituency; Dr. Md. Maniruddin Sheikh, former Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from 30-Lilong Assembly Constituency and Shri A.S Arthur, former Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from 44-Ukhrul (ST) Assembly Constituency.
Speaker of the House, Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, moved a resolution expressing deep and profound sorrow over the demise of the former members. The House unanimously adopted the resolution to condole their demise and observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
Leader of the House, Y. Khemchand Singh initiated the obituary reference, which was followed by former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and Home Minister K. Govindas Singh.
Participating in the obituary reference, O. Ibobi Singh, Senior Member of the House expressed his condolences.
K. Meghachandra; Th. Lokeshwar Singh; Ram Muivah and Leishiyo Keishing also participated in the obituary reference and expressed deep sorrow at the demise of the former members.
