Imphal: Headquarters 9 Sector Assam Rifles, one of the oldest and most decorated operational formations of the Force, celebrated its landmark 80th Raising Day at Keithelmanbi Garrison in Imphal West district, Manipur on 01 September 2026. Commemorating eight glorious decades of distinguished service since its inception on 01 September 1947 at Tuensang in Tuensang district, Nagaland, the event highlighted the Sector’s enduring legacy, operational excellence and unyielding devotion to national security.
The commemorative events commenced with a sacred Mandir Parade seeking divine blessings for the continued well-being, valour and success of all personnel. Following this, a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony was conducted at the Sector War Memorial at Keithelmanbi Garrison, where the Sector Commander alongside personnel paid heartfelt homage to the brave martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
To bolster organizational cohesion, a Sainik Sammelan was organised at the Garrison, providing troops a direct interactive platform with the Sector Commander to express their perspectives and reinforce mutual trust and morale. The milestone celebrations culminated in a traditional Bada Khana, which fostered deep camaraderie, unity and esprit de corps among all ranks. Reflecting on eighty years of unwavering dedication, 9 Sector Assam Rifles reaffirmed its solemn commitment to safeguarding the nation’s frontiers and steadfastly serving the people of the North East region.
