Chandel: Assam Rifles conducted an Anti-Dengue Fogging Drive at Yangoubung Village, Chandel District, on 17 August 2026 to support the local population amid an ongoing dengue outbreak. The proactive preventive healthcare initiative was undertaken to assist civil administration and local residents in mitigating mosquito-borne disease risks and maintaining a safe, healthy environment across vulnerable border areas.
The fogging drive directly benefited 65 households by targeting mosquito breeding grounds and reducing adult mosquito populations to contain dengue transmission. As a critical vector-control measure, the drive complemented broader public health efforts, including community awareness and sanitation practices. Highlighting the importance of civil-military cooperation during community health challenges, the intervention reflected a timely, grassroots response aimed at safeguarding rural health and promoting environmental hygiene. The initiative forms part of the ongoing commitment of Assam Rifles towards people-centric outreach, community welfare and swift assistance during public health emergencies in border
