Imphal: A one-day Training Programme for the Staff of One Stop Centres was organised today by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) under the sponsorship of the National Commission for Women at the Auditorium Hall of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.
Delivering the welcome and keynote address, Member Secretary, MSCW and Additional Director, IPR, Manipur, W. Phajatombi Devi, MCS, said that the training programme conducted today marks the second phase of the training programme for the staff of One Stop Centres under the sponsorship of the National Commission for Women. She stated that the staff are already efficient and empowered, and that the training programme has been organised to further enhance their knowledge and skills to deliver better services.
She informed that the first phase of the training programme had already been conducted under the aegis of the National Commission for Women. She further stated that the second phase is being organised as per the direction of the National Commission for Women to further strengthen the capabilities of the staff of One Stop Centres through enhanced knowledge and training.
Phajatombi Devi further stated that during the first phase of the programme, minor cases were taken up as practical case studies with demonstrations. She expressed hope that during the second phase of the training programme, the staff of One Stop Centres would learn from experts about handling difficult and complex cases.
Speaking at the programme, Chairperson, MSCW, Th. Tiningpham Monsang, said that the training programme has been organised to further enhance the knowledge and capabilities of the staff of One Stop Centres. She stated that the staff play a crucial role in assisting women and other individuals who are suffering or have undergone trauma, and therefore continuous capacity building is essential for delivering effective support.
She stressed the importance of paying close attention to the technical sessions and applying the knowledge gained during the training while assisting those in need. She further encouraged the staff to approach the MSCW whenever they encounter difficult or complicated cases, assuring them that the Commission is always ready to extend its support and assistance.
The programme featured technical sessions on Trauma-informed Counselling Techniques by Prof. R.K. Lenin Singh, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS; Women-related Laws by Thiyam Rajkishore, Advocate; and Case Documentation and MIS Reporting by N. Binobala, Deputy Director, Social Welfare.
The programme was attended by Sk. Sophia, Member, MSCW, and staff of One Stop Centres from all 16 districts of Manipur, with participants from nine districts joining through online mode and those from the remaining seven districts attending physically.
