Chandel: In commemoration of World Youth Skills Day, observed globally to highlight the importance of equipping young people with capabilities for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship, Assam Rifles successfully conducted a youth empowerment initiative on 15 July 2026. Aligning with the United Nations theme, “Skills for a Shared Future”, which emphasizes fostering technical and life skills to build resilient communities, the force organised a vibrant drawing competition at Don Bosco School, Lamphou Pasna in Chandel District, Manipur. The event formed part of an ongoing commitment towards nurturing creativity, encouraging innovation and promoting holistic development through meaningful community outreach.
The programme commenced with an inspiring interaction that highlighted the significance of creativity, discipline and innovation in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders. This was followed by a warm welcome ceremony and colourful cultural performances by the students, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and celebration. A total of 120 students enthusiastically participated in the competition, showcasing their artistic talent and imagination on the themes “Patriotism”, “Real Heroes of India” and “Unity Beyond Borders”. The young participants displayed remarkable originality, reflecting a deep sense of national pride and appreciation for social harmony through their artwork.
Assam Rifles personnel interacted closely with the students, encouraging them to pursue creative excellence, critical thinking and leadership qualities while contributing positively towards nation-building. The winners were felicitated for their outstanding performances, and all participants received appreciation for their passionate involvement. Attended by 120 students, four faculty members and Assam Rifles personnel, the event successfully strengthened the civil-military bond while inspiring the younger generation to contribute towards a progressive nation.
