VB-G RAM G launched in Bishnupur district

Bishnupur:  District-Level Jan Sammelan-cum-Launching Programme of Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) [VB-G RAM G] was held today at the Panchayat Resource Centre (PRC) Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.

Speaking as the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner, Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, stated that VB-G RAM G is a significant initiative of the Government of India aimed at enhancing the development of rural areas. She said that as the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj launches the mission nationwide today, Bishnupur district is proud to join the nationwide programme.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the programme seeks to strengthen rural employment while contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. Under the Act, every eligible rural household whose adult members are willing to undertake unskilled manual work will be guaranteed 125 days of wage employment in every financial year.

She further stated that the mission is not only about providing employment but also about creating durable community assets that benefit villages in the long term. Priority will be given to works related to water conservation, rural infrastructure, livelihood enhancement, and disaster preparedness, which will help make villages stronger, safer, and more self-reliant.

The Deputy Commissioner also noted that the programme incorporates greater use of technology to improve transparency and efficiency. Biometric authentication, geo-tagging of works, digital monitoring, and timely wage payments will ensure enhanced accountability and effective implementation of the scheme.

Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Bishnupur, who is also the Additional District Magistrate, Toijam Opendro, informed that the Central Government has notified revised wage rates under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, with wage rates enhanced across all States and Union Territories.

Additional District Magistrate Chirom Somerendro, Block Development Officers of Bishnupur, Nambol, and Moirang sub-divisions, along with officials and staff from the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, attended the programme.

The gathering also joined the nationwide launch virtually.
