Mandatory weapon training and firing cadre for cadets in Imphal west District

Imphal: Assam Rifles conducted a four-day weapon training and firing practice cadre for cadets of 1st Manipur Air Squadron NCC at Keithelmanbi Garrison in Imphal West district from 13 May 2026 to 16 May 2026. Organised to fulfill the core requirements of the mandatory institutional training curriculum prescribed for NCC cadets nationwide, the event primarily aimed to impart essential marksmanship and weapon handling skills. This was supplemented by the objective of creating awareness about the Indian Army and security forces, while motivating the youth towards discipline, patriotism and nation-building.

As part of the cadre, firing practice sessions using .22 Rifles were organised from 13 May 2026 to 16 May 2026 at the firing range of Kangla Sector, New Keithelmanbi in Imphal West district. The training was conducted under the supervision of experienced instructors, providing NCC cadets practical exposure to weapon handling, firing techniques, range discipline and safety procedures. The sessions also familiarised the cadets with the functioning and training standards followed by the Armed Forces.

Further enhancing the institutional training initiative, an informative weapon and equipment display was organised on 16 May 2026 at Dronacharya Hall, Keithelmanbi Garrison in Imphal West district. The event commenced at 11 am and concluded at 1 pm. A total of 245 NCC cadets, including 133 boys and 112 girls, attended the training programme along with four officials and troops and three civil teachers.

During the interaction, the cadets were briefed on various weapons, surveillance equipment and operational capabilities employed by the security forces in challenging environments. The cadets showed keen interest in learning about the role, responsibilities and functioning of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, which inspired a spirit of patriotism and commitment towards national service.
