The meeting held at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall discussed on the recommendation of inclusion of remaining 6 PACS in the district under the computerisation process.

Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) are grassroots-level cooperative credit institutions which operates at the village/gram panchayat level. They provide immediate, short-to-medium-term loans, agricultural inputs and financial services to farmers. They directly interact with rural borrowers, providing credit for seeds, fertilizers and pesticides; while also managing loan repayments. Beyond credit, they act as marketing outlets, storage facilities and provide Common Service Centers.
The aim of digitising PACS is to bring greater transparency and accountability in their operations, enabling them to diversify their business and undertake more activities. It also aims to help PACS become a nodal centre for providing various services such as Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Interest Subvention Scheme (ISS), Crop Insurance Scheme (PMFBY) and inputs like fertilizers & seeds.
The DLMC meeting held at Kakching DC Complex was also attended by District Development Manager (DDM) NABARD, District Cooperative Officer, District Information Officer – DIPR, Branch Manager of State Cooperative Bank Ltd – Kakching along with chairman/representation of PACS. (DIO)
