Imphal: The Red Shield Division of the Indian Army inaugurated a major Solar Street Lights project installing solar lights across Laikhong village, Imphal East District, Manipur on 27 Mar 2026 under Operation Sadbhavana. This initiative reinforced and strengthened the civil-military relations while supporting the common goal of boosting community development.
Laikhong village, home to economically weaker sections, faced challenges due to inadequate lighting, impacting safety and mobility. The solar lights enhance visibility, security and safer movement for residents with minimal disruption due to daily activities.
This project highlights the Indian Army’s commitment to sustainable development through eco-friendly solutions, improving quality of life in remote areas. The Indian Army remains dedicated to nation-building and welfare in the North East. The Villagers expressed their gratitude and support for the continued efforts of the Indian Army in stabilising the situation in the region with dedicated actions for peace and development of the village as well as community.
