Imphal: The Somnath Swabhiman Parv (1000 Years of Unbroken Faith) celebration was observed by the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, today at Heibok Mahadev, Hiyangthang, Imphal West.
Khuraijam Loken Singh, Honourable Minister, Art and Culture, Government of Manipur graced the function as Chief Guest.
Speaking as the Chief Guest of the function, Khuraijam Loken Singh, stated that the rich arts, culture, and sporting traditions of the state have been passed down by our forefathers through generations. He remarked that at present, people across the world are becoming increasingly aware of our state’s rich and unique traditional arts, culture, and sporting heritage.
The Minister further emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting these traditions for future generations while continuing to strengthen cultural identity. He also noted that many such initiatives are being supported under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to promote cultural unity, particularly in the North Eastern region.
H Gyan Prakash, Commissioner, Directorate of Art and Culture and Dr. Mayengbam Veto Singh, Director, Art and Culture also attended the function.
Performances by teachers and students of Mahal Mukundadeva Music College added vibrancy to the event.
The programme was conducted successfully with active participation from departmental officials, artists, cultural groups, local leaders and public.
