Kakching: A one-day Awareness-cum-Udyam Registration Drive was held today at Kakching Wairi Sabal Leikai Community Hall under Kakching CD Block in Kakching District. The programme was organised by the District Industries Centre under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The programme was attended by Waikhom Birendra Singh, Director of RSETI Kakching and Lead District Manager of Ukhrul, Kamjong, Jiribam and Tamenglong Districts as Chief Guest; Soibam Nabakunja Singh, General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Thoubal and Kakching district as President and Sapam Lalhari Singh of DIT Thoubal and Kakching as Guest of Honour.
Oinam Deben Singh, Development Officer, District Industries Centre (DIC) of Thoubal and Kakching Districts, attended the programme as a resource person. Around 120 entrepreneurs took part in the drive.
It may be noted that for Kakching District, individuals engaged in MSME activities who have not yet registered on the Udyam Portal can participate in the upcoming Awareness-cum-Udyam Registration Drive. The programme will be held at Langmeidong Panchayat Community Hall on March 23, 2026, and at Elangkhangpokpi Makha Leikai on March 24, 2026 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm on both days.
Participants are required to bring photocopies of Aadhaar (both sides), PAN card, the front page of the bank passbook, an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, email ID, and the name & address of the unit.
It may be mentioned that the benefits of Udyam registration are formal recognition to MSMEs, enhancing their credibility and trustworthiness among stakeholders such as Banks, Customers and Suppliers; Access to credit and capital from financial institutions; Access to Government schemes and initiatives and Udyam registered enterprises are eligible for various preferences in government procurements, including price preference and exemptions from payments of EMD.
