Financial assistance distributed to IDPS across Kakching District

Under the initiative, a sum of Rs. 2,420 was provided to each IDPs through Direct Benefit Transfer. A total of 45 Internally Displaced Persons received the assistance and dummy cheques were handed over to the beneficiaries.

Kakching: Mayanglambam Rameshwar, MLA Kakching Assembly Constituency along with Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya, IAS, distributed financial assistance to Internally Displaced Persons at the SC/ST Hostel of Kha Manipur College, Kakching district today.

Under the initiative, a sum of Rs 2,420 (two thousand four hundred and twenty only) was provided to each IDP through Direct Benefit Transfer. A total of 45 Internally Displaced Persons received the assistance and dummy cheques were handed over to the beneficiaries. The MLA and the Deputy Commissioner later interacted with the inmates, enquiring about their well-being and other additional requirements.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar stated that relief camp inmates may approach the concerned authorities or contact him directly in case of grievances. He assured that all issues brought to his notice will be taken up and efforts will be made to resolve them at the earliest.

He further stated that under the initiatives of the new Government led by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand, assistance will be extended without delay to address the problems faced by the Internally Displaced Persons in relief camps. He also conveyed that he will extend full cooperation, in coordination with the Deputy Commissioner and the District Administration Kakching, to resolve their concerns and facilitate their return to normal life at the earliest.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Uppuluri Chaitanya stated that the programme was organised for the welfare of the Internally Displaced Persons. He informed that the doors of the District Administration, Kakching, including his office are open to address any grievances faced by the IDPs. He further stated that the District Administration Kakching is working with maximum effort to address the concerns of the displaced persons and to provide all possible help at the earliest.

The programme was attended by the SDC (HQ), SDC Kakching and other officials of the district administration.

Meanwhile, a similar distribution programme was conducted for Internally Displaced Persons residing at Yangbi Girls School Wabagai Relief Camp, Sanatombi High School Keirak Relief Camp and Indoor Stadium Kakching Relief Camp by Dr. Usham Deben, MLA of Wabagai Assembly Constituency. Through Direct Benefit Transfer, financial assistance was extended to 97 IDPs residing in the three relief camps.

The benefits distribution programme was also conducted at Elangkhangpokpi Relief Camp under the leadership of Dr. Yumnam Radheshyam, MLA of Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency. A total of 30 IDPs attended the programme. In addition to the Direct Benefit Transfer assistance, a sum of Rs 20,000 (twenty thousand only) each was handed over to two selected beneficiaries for the reconstruction of their houses. (DIO)
