Imphal: International Women’s Day 2025 on the theme “Accelerate Action” organized by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) was observed on Saturday at the Auditorium Hall, Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.
Ngangom Uttam Singh, Director MAHUD and IPR, speaking as the chief guest elaborating on this year’s theme “Accelerate Action” said it referred to acting speedily and rapidly towards achieving our goal, the goal of equal rights. Giving equal rights, gender equality and honouring women are main areas that should be implemented rapidly. He opined that it may take two generations to fully implement rights.
Ng. Uttam Singh applauded the entire team of MSCW for their dedication and hard work despite budgetary constraints, lack of vehicles, manpower etc. But he assured them that with a few supportive suggestions, they would surely overcome many obstacles and become stronger than before.
The Director highlighted the distinctive importance of One Stop Centre (OSC). In case of any emergencies, difficulties, or causalities etc., every woman can seek the medical, police, legal aid supports and other available services by dialling 181 of OSC.
Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Chairperson, MSCW; Lourembam Dayabati Devi, Member MSCW; T. Chuonsin Koireng, Member MSCW; SK. Sophia Moyon, Member MSCW and W. Phajatombi Devi, Member Secretary MSCW also attended the celebration as president and guests of honour respectively.
One of the highlights of the observation was the fleictation of women achievers in various fields namely Rev. Apila Thangal, Sorokhaibam Bidyarani Devi, Anwari Noorjahan, Seram Nirupama Devi and Sr. Maria Dilbung.
